Turning our parishes inside out - SfS guest speaker on Tablet panel

The School for Synodality’s Co-Director Avril Baigent was one of the guest speakers at a recent webinar for The Tablet exploring ‘How to receive the Synod’s conclusions in our parishes and dioceses’.

Alongside fellow guests Bishop Brendan Leahy, Bishop of Limerick, and journalist and commentator Austen Ivereigh, Avril highlighted part of the synodal approach is “turning our parishes inside out, so that everyone within the parish is living out their mission, in their family in society, in their working life” and we need to discover “what do we need to do in our parishes to make that possible?”

Austen Iverleigh said of synodality that “it is not a corporate renewal exercise. It is not a discussion chamber where we sit around complaining about the institution, as if the institution is somehow separate from us. It is about what we have been called to do here in this place, in this parish, in this deanery”.
